What is Scottish H.A.R.T.?
We are a Recognised Scottish Charity involved in research into Cardiomyopathy and all heart diseases and we are currently raising funds to put a professionally manned screening unit on the road to test all young athletes and families at risk. Far too often we read headlines about "Teenager dies during match" and these deaths are avoidable if each youngster taking part in sport is tested before he or she takes up a training programme. Scottish H.A.R.T.'s mission is to provide the fund-raising capability to supply screening equipment and to raise awareness of the disease to help promote the advancement of a cure. The Scottish H.A.R.T. mission is accomplished by: Providing the financial climate which can obtain at least one mobile cardiac evaluation unit to be used in Scotland at schools, colleges, universities, sports clubs and sports centres in association with local education departments, health boards and national sports associations. Creating public and medical awareness of Hypertrophic and Dilated Cardiomyopathy. Providing the means to test and identify sufferers of the disease and offer advice along with the medical professions on how to best control it. Offering up-to-date information to patients and their families and helping them to understand what it means to have this disease. Helping to distribute, through newsletters, any advances in research. Helping to promote the advancement of a cure for cardiomyopathy through increased research into all heart diseases. Scottish H.A.R.T. is a National Charity instituted in Scotland having its address as shown on our home page. all monies raised will be applied to Scottish H.A.R.T. in the promotion of its principal charitable object being to test young athletes for and educate the public about the dangers of cardiomyopathy in all its forms.
